FP St. Pierre & Miquelon **Update #4**

2025-06-22

Update 22 Sep 2025@21.30z: Despite several attempts, Olivier and Vincent were not able to reach or listen QO-100, so they ended their efforts today. However, Vincent is still hoping to make QSO from Canada!

Starting Wed 24 Sep 2025, he will do 24h stopover in VO1. He plans rent a car and make some further tests from different grids that could be within reach.

He advises grids hunters to be available all day 25 Sep 2025 (and potentially late Wed evening).

Update 17 Sep 2025 @16.30z: ""We did first tests in FP with Olivier yesterday at two different location, but no reception, neither no transmission (100w) was reaching the satellite (we try to check our transmission with the websdr).

We will make more try in coming days from other QTH (one on top hill of the island and one on the shore next to the sea). In case any success of rx, we will for sure keep informed on the results here. 73"

Update 13 Sep 2025: The "setup at FP5KE DXpedition: Antenna will be a 60cm offset dish cut in two for transportation, together with a TCXO LNB and a helix feed. We will also have a 2.4GHz grid antenna and a smaller dish. Station will be either a Pluto SDR, or a Hermes Lite 2 with an uplink dxpatrol converter, or eventually the Khune upconverter. Amplifiers are SGLab 12w, DXPatrol 12w and PE1RKI 100w amplifier. Reception with either the Pluto or some RTL SDR dongle, using SDR Console or Thetis for controlling all this.

QO-100 isn’t the priority for FP5KE, and remember our QTH is located outside of the footprint, at -3.2 elevation, so chance of getting it work is very slim (but if we don’t try, we will never know). Two Satellite experienced operators will make several attempts at different time of the day/night Exact timing will be announced in advance on the QO-100 whatsapp groups. Station will most probably be located outdoor and we have secured two car battery to be able to move the station and try alternative qth like at the seashore or in a nearby cliff.

In addition of QO-100, the team also will be active on LEO SAT, FM and SSB, with a IC9700 and Arrow antenna. We will also try to announce our pass in advance in the different known channels.

Our SAT Managers are Vincent, F4BKV and Olivier, HB9GWJ"

Update 12 Aug 2025: The dates for this Dxpedition are now confirmed: 15 - 26 Sep 2025.
Due logistical options, there is an additional expense of 7300 Euro, so the organizers welcome any donation.

A team of 16 operators from F6KOP radioclub will be QRV from St Pierre & Miquelon as FP5KE (GN16) during 10 days (dates yet to be announced).
Despite the location is outside QO-100 sat footprint (-3.2 deg), they are planning to bring equipment and attempt to make contacts.
